The Central region of IRAN is the main section of the Persian carpet industry. TEHRAN is the capital city of IRAN and its famous Bazaar is the center for marketing Persian carpets.

ISFAHAN is the most famous city for historical and cultural sites. ARAK(SULTANABAD) is well known in western countries for the carpets made by the ZEIGLER family.

QOM is known for its micro-woven silk carpets. KASHAN is known for producing a smaller size rug known as a "Ghaliche."

"Ghali" means rug and "che" is a suffix in "Farsi" (the official language in IRAN) meaning "small," so "Ghaliche" means "small rug."
